SFI-TMCP clash at Medinipur College during Jadavpur protest; Several injured

A violent clash erupted between Students’ Federation of India (SFI) and Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) members at Medinipur College on Monday amid a statewide student strike over the Jadavpur incident. The confrontation began when SFI members staged a protest in front of Gate No. 1, supporting the strike, and a group allegedly led by TMCP district president Rabindranath Ghosh attempted to force entry. The situation quickly escalated into a physical altercation, with both sides engaging in a scuffle, leading to multiple injuries.

According to eyewitnesses, TMCP members allegedly dragged and removed some SFI protestors from the gate. Meanwhile, SFI has accused the police of entering the campus multiple times without the college administration’s permission. "The police are interfering unnecessarily and entering without clearance," an SFI representative alleged. However, TMCP has denied all accusations and instead blamed SFI for provoking the violence. The extent of injuries sustained by individuals from both sides remains unclear.

The incident has heightened tensions on campus, with SFI demanding action against those responsible and TMCP maintaining that SFI members instigated the clash. The college administration has yet to issue an official statement, while security has been tightened in and around the premises. Authorities have not confirmed any detentions or arrests related to the violence.
